feeling old and out of it lol... baby shower gift help, please
i was just invited to a baby shower for this weekend. i don't know the mother-to-be. i'm kind of a "plus one" for my sister... long story.
i was able to find out where she's registered, but everything, yes everything, has been purchased.
what on earth should i get this lady?
besides diapers and wipes, i'm drawing a blank on items that you can never have too many of.
i feel so old, it's been almost 20 years since my son was in diapers that i'm blanking out on what a new mother needs...

I wished I'd gotten less clothes and more restaurant gift cards because there was no time or energy to cook!
But for actual Things, you can never have enough onesies or health items like butt paste, rash cream, lotion, wash cloths, detergent.

I never have enough bibs or burp clothes, but my kid spits up non-stop. I love the idea of a restaurant gift card, especially if it's a place that delivers to them (going out can be hard at first).

I always run out of washcloths, went through heaps of diaper rash cream.
One of the most thoughtful things I got was actually a Victoria's Secret gift card with a note saying that I'm too be celebrated and spoiled too, not just the baby, and to use to feel like myself again when I'm ready - but that was from a close friend.

I like the restaurant idea, too. Or you could do things that are disposable that she'll need a lot of..... diapers, baby wipes, shampoo. Or maybe items that are for older babies - like 6 or 9 month clothing since people always seem to give newborn stuff.
ETA: or board books. Never too young to start reading to them!

Gift cards either to Target or local restaurants.
A lot of the items people on this thread are mentioning are things I rarely used and would not have needed extra of, including some diaper sizes.

I really appreciated decorative items like frames, piggy banks and Christmas ornaments.
It was things I never really thought about getting myself.

I would get a gift card to the store where she has her baby registry.
You could put a book or toy with it if you want to give a small gift too. I asked people not to buy me lots of diapers because I didn't know what would work best for my dd. My entire family has allergies, etc--It turned out she could not wear huggies as a new born. I was happy not to have to lug a bunch of diapers back to be returned with a newborn baby.

If you want to get a gift, I got the frame for the first year monthly pics and I liked that. I also got a few ornaments. I just saw the blackboard that can be filled in on each month for pics in TJ Maxx. There are some cute different things in places like that or Home Goods.
I also really loved Noodle and Boo and Arbonne baby products but I HATED buying them myself because they are pricey. All of the organic and natural baby bath products can be pricey. Or get a little beach bag or a giant pail and put California baby products -they have great sunscreen, bath wash, etc.- and get a little beach towel, sun hat and beach themed frame. I would have loved that.
