Master on 1st floor

I'm buying a townhouse soon that has a master bedroom on the ground floor and 2 bedrooms on the second floor. DS (8yo) doesn't usually get up in the middle of the night but occasionally (maybe every other month) he'll pee the bed or have a nightmare. He also has asthma flare ups when he's sick during the winter.

I don't really want him coming down the stairs to get me bc I'd hate for him to be half asleep and fall down the stairs so I was thinking of getting something - either a baby monitor (just audio not video) or walkie talkies. Which would you recommend? I could go either way but monitor would allow me to hear his breathing if asthma but then I'd also hear everything else on regular nights (he snores a lot).

Re: Master on 1st floor

I'd do a monitor - it sounds like he's not aware of when he needs you (breathing, nightmares), so it's better that he wouldn't have to consciously operate something to notify you.

My cousin uses the echo dots in her house as an intercom system between the bedrooms on different floors. I still think for you a monitor may be better, but just something else to consider!

I would do a monitor. My master is downstairs and my DS (5) is upstairs. We stopped using the monitor a while back. If he has an issue he calls for us. But with the asthma in your situation I would probably have continued with the monitor.

Definitely a monitor.
This way you can hear him at all times.

Both of my kids rooms are upstairs and they are both fine with stairs. But if you was t something I would get a monitor. Pretty sure some have a talk feature on it. At least my video monitor does
