I ordered the small for my DD. She's the same height & it's perfect.

DS used the small in both Pre-K and Kindergarten. I sized up for first grade this year.

The small (not pre-k) is perfect for my dd for nursery (last year) and pre-k this year.

I just ordered a small for my son whose not even 2, because the prek one doesn't look like it will fit a lunchbox for daycare. so I'd rather have something larger anyway. plus I will be the one holding it for now

Re: Pottery barn packback

I agree with the other posters, the small is the perfect size. The pre-k size is so tiny it barely fits anything in it. I would have to smush my sons small lunch box just to fit it in there.
