catholic christening question
question we're not catholic. I haven't been to a Christening party at all. my good friend is having her daughter's christening on sunday. so.... what would be a good gift? and also-- what to wear? Just what we would normally wear to church, or slightly more dressy like a wedding? The party is at a catering hall.

Re: catholic christening question
I would say wear what you would to maybe a bridal shower or engagement party, most people give $$$ as a gift.

Most people give cash or check. Some buy a personalized item with the babies name. As for dress, you don't need to get wedding fancy. I agree with PP -- wear what you would to a shower, engagement party, retirement party, etc.

I agree with the PP's about how to dress.
I can tell you that after having christened 3 boys, I got no tangible gifts, all money, with the average being $100.

Re: catholic christening question
I just baptized my daughter this past weekend. The majority of our guests wore summer dresses (maxis and floral knee length), with the men wearing dress shorts and collared shirts.
DD got mostly checks and cash. She did receive 2 personalized ceramic piggy banks and a personalized cross that I thought was beautiful and unique
