Day Care Help!!

I've recently had an issue with my children's babysitter (their grandmother) and am now in desperate need for new childcare. I never wanted to put my kids in day care but unfortunately I don't have a choice right now.

I am distressed over the whole situation/having to deal with now putting them in day care but I have to do what I have to do....

With that said, does anyone have any recommendation of Day Care or some kind of child care in the Selden/Port Jeff area?? Any recommendations? Prices? Any info would help. It would be part time (2-3 days a week) for 2 kids.

TIA

Re: Day Care Help!!

I don't have any recs as I don't live on LI but can say, I trust my day care workers more than most family members with my child! My child thrives in a day care setting and so many do the same. I hope you find a place that is perfect for you but just know, day care is wonderful (we chose day care over a nanny, I am very happy with that choice).

Same.
You will be amazed at what your child learns in a daycare setting, the socialization they get, etc.
It was truly the best thing we ever did for DD.
Don't be distressed. If you find the right daycare, it will be amazing for your LO

Day Care Help!!

i agree. DS learns SO much more. And they are consistent and stick with what you want, unlike our parents... who "know better"??!! than us LMAO.

We use Habitots- there is one in middle island (sorta close?)

I agree. I feel like my child is much more social and happy than if she was taken care by family or if I was a sahm

Tritto. Our son's daycare was incredible.

I'm not familiar with the area, but also look at the OCFS website for violations/licensing information. Also, do not schedule a visit, just show up and say you're interested in a tour.

Re: Day Care Help!!

DC goes to The Learning Experience. He started at one center and then because of location we had to move to a closer one. Aside from the people, it seemed like nothing was different between the 2 centers, which I liked. I find that they are run so well. I show up unannounced all the time and I've never found anything out of the ordinary. They have much better procedures regarding safety then a lot of the other daycare places I toured. Very organized and DS loves going there. There are new ones popping up all over so there might be one in your area. I think Centereach might be the closest one to Selden, but there are others nearby in Mt. Sinai and Stony Brook I think.

I agree with the other posters, I trust them more than family. My in-laws feed DC nothing but junk and let him sit in front of the TV. He learns so much by going there (to daycare). I feel like he is happier, healthier, and safer going to daycare vs being watched by family members.

Try this place. http://www.stonybrookdaycare.com/

They just opened a location up on Old town road. Their other location in Stony Brook my coworkers rave about.

Their pricing is on the website.
