Another day, another issue.
The Long Island Rail Road warned its riders to expect cancellations and delays during Thursday evening’s commute because Amtrak power problems caused 12 of Penn Station’s tracks to lose power.
That is just more than one-half of Penn’s 21 tracks, which the LIRR shares with the national railroad and New Jersey Transit.

The news should start reporting when the LIRR does NOT have an issue. That's actually the more news worthy story.

So they had an issue this morning. Got a text a 3:30 service normal for rush hour home and an hour later 12 tracks have no power? Bizarre. Always right at rush hour. Like clockwork. Lucky I modified my work schedule due to this work and I was almost home.

I had next to no issues today while others 5-10 before and after me had tons.
Am -10 mins late
pM - 2mins late.
I count myself lucky on these days.

Lucky DH called me as I was walking to Penn.
Never got a text alert. I took the express bus home instead of waiting too see what shitshow was going on at Penn.
So looking forward to the summer edition of the LIRR shitshow.

Metro north never a delay until dh takes it to meet me at our new house yesterday. His first fkn day, 15 min delay. He can't win lol.

I commuted to the city for 9 years. I stopped in March. I cannot even imagine having to deal with all of this. I feel so bad for everyone who does.

OMG..I stopped commuting on NJ transit to Penn in 2010. I was commuting from PA so on the SEpta as well ..4 hrs a day between coming / going.
I cannot imagine what this hell will be like. I truly feel for all of you who have to travel the N.East Corridor.

That's the thing. It's a monopoly. You can't chose which train system to take from LI to the city. Or Westchester to the city. Or NJ to the city.
Yes, you can chose to drive, but that isn't any better
They know they have you by the proverbial balls so what do they care?

I was watching the news yesterday morning with the MN delays in Grand Central. They were interviewing one guy that said as soon as he heard, he left work but he said, "at least it's not penn and the LIRR because it's every day and I really feel for those people."
