Abbreviations
Has anyone noticed it's getting worse with abbreviations lately?
I am guessing it's due to social media, texting, emailing from your phone etc. but even in real life I hear people abbreviating things when speaking.
The other day I'm in the cafeteria at work and the guy in front of me is telling the woman what he wants and he says- "Yes, let me get the chicken with some corn and some mash po and put a little gravy on the chicken and the mash po."
In case you were wondering- mash po is mashed potatoes. 
I have never heard them abbreviated that way. It was like nails on a chalk board to me and I kind of wanted to punch the dude in the face.
I mean how hard would it be to say, mashed potatoes? Why do you have to abbreviated potatoes to po.????
Does it take that much effort and breath to speak in full words? Have we become that lazy?
I swear, in 20 years the English language will be fully replaced with sounds, grunts, letters and half words.
We're going back to the language the cavemen spoke.

That is such a huge pet peeve of mine. I hate it when people speak in abbreviations! The worst is "preggers" - I can't stand it when people say that! There are plenty of other words too, but that one really makes me

Some are funny, and totes makes me laugh (especially after the Malcolm McDowell/James Earl Jones commercials!).

Hate abbreviations in general, but especially ones like "luv", would it kill you to add another letter in order to spell it properly????

Abbreviations
I cannot stand when people say preggers, hubs, totes, amaze. The worst is when someone uses preggers and hubs in the same sentence.
Is it really that exhausting to finish an actual word?

Yeah, all this lingo is stupid and I agree with you. If we keep this up I can see the English language devolving into a series of grunts and guttural sounds.

EXACTLY!!! I saw someone write sry instead of sorry. We have full keyboards now on phones, and autocorrect, sry is not necessary!
My friends in the midwest always say this needs washed instead of this needs to be washed and it drives me insane - but, I drive them insane by saying I am on line instead of in line.

And on my phone it has this type ahead feature so if I start to type out Sor..... it will suggest sorry and I can just click it and keep typing.
It even suggests next words like if I start typing- How was your.... it will suggest day? evening? weekend? trip?
There really is no reason to not type things out.
But on the phone, I give a pass.
But to speak those words? Come on!
The air is free! You can take an extra breath!

My iPhone does too. I just need to type in an "H" and it suggests Happy Birthday!
