phone call scams

Im getting 1-2 scam calls per day lately and it's so frustrating. I keep blocking the numbers but it just continues. Is this happening to anyone else as much as it's happening to me, and how can I stop it?

Yep. I just keep blocking. Yesterday, I was being arrested by the IRS, could have all my student loans forgiven for a low price and have my credit card interest rate sliced in half. I also get the you have stayed at one of our resorts in the past year. So freaking annoying.

I get these a lot too. I stopped answering my phones if I don't recognize the numbers espeseally from out of state area codes. If someone wants to talk to me, they can leave a message and I decide if I want to call back.

Re: phone call scams

I stopped answering phone calls from people I don't know. If you need to reach me, I text. I only pick up if I know the number.

Re: phone call scams

I get a lot of calls at home. The caller ID lists a city or state, so I know not to answer them.

The "you've stayed at one of our hotels recently" calls sometimes catch me. It's a 631 area code, and I do have reasons to answer local calls that I might not recognize, so I do pick them up once in a while.

Very annoying.... Chat Icon

Re: phone call scams

At home we have nomorobo. Every once in a while a call slips thru, but we don't pick up and then report the call to nomorobo.

On our cells, we don't pick up if we don't recognize the number. DH picked up a call on my phone 2 years ago and that started the whole spam shit on my phone. Could have killed him. His reasoning - what if it was important ? My answer - they would have left a message.
Duh.

I got the new Samsung Galaxy 8 last week and these calls come up as Spam Caller or Robo Call.
Love this feature.

Re: phone call scams

yes I just got a call from the "irs" saying that there is an arrest warrant on my name. And I must call immediately.

I feel bad for the people who actually fall for this.

They called me twice in one day and I have blocked them.

I wish verizon would let you block more than 5 numbers.

I saw a youtube video once where a guy called back and played along. They wanted him to go to Target and buy $500 worth of Target gift cards to pay what he owed the IRS.
He was playing with them so bad. Saying ok I am here now, what should I do. And he kept messing up the guy's instructions.
The guy was getting so frustrated and angry.
It was hilarious.

Like yeah, the IRS is going to ask me to pay my back taxes in the form of Target gift cards.
Oooo kkkkkk

Yes I almost wanted to call back and give them a fake name to see what they would say...

I wish I could pay my taxes with gift cards! Chat Icon
