Disability pay/maternity leave question
Hi all,
Does anyone know what happens if you have a baby, collect 6 weeks of disability pay but then decide not to return to work? Am I liable to "pay back" that money?

paying back money to NYS..no you would not have to do that.
if your company pays your medical benefits you may have to pay that back? or if you have used vacation time that wasnt fully accrued yet, you might get docked for that.
but you would not have to pay back disability benefits.

Disability pay/maternity leave question
Check your employee handbook. I was out on maternity for 3 months and had to return one day to hand in my resignation letter. No penalties.

You would be entitled to your NYS disability, but you may have to pay back anything your employer paid towards your leave.
Every company is different, so check with yours.

They aren't paying me anything while out on maternity leave.
