Re: New Orleans
I stayed at the Riverside Hilton, it was away from the craziness of Bourbon st. we had the step kid. It was maybe a 10-15 walk or Uber was super cheap on days we didn't want to walk.

The Sheraton New Orleans is great, especially if you get a club room which I think is really worth it.
The Ritz Carlton is beautiful if you are looking for something on the higher end.

Re: New Orleans
Recently stayed at the Residence Inn New Orleans Downtown. It was 2 bed/2 bath. Full kitchen and big living room. Came with breakfast. Some nights had happy hour with apps/drinks. Walk-able to downtown (about 10-15 min or so). ETA: Used Uber several times, very cheap

Re: New Orleans
Definitely do an air BNB or check out vrbo.com! We stayed at a house in NOLA and it was amazing and cheaper than a hotel. The house was on a completely different side of NOLA than the hotels were and I think we had a different experience because of it. We stayed in the Marigny Bywater district and everything was in walking distance- The French Quarter, Bourbon Street, Frenchman Street, parks, the trolley, it was perfect!

Best location. Completely quiet then you walk around the corner and you're dodging projectile vomit on bourbon street. The best!

We stayed at the Renaissance hotel near French quarter. Walking distant to many places. We didn't even need a car expect when we went to see the plantations.

for budget friendly - We stayed at the Holiday Inn french Quarter. It was clean and great location.
We never spend much time in a hotel so I never tend to spend $$$$ on it.
