Re: Please keep in your thoughts
This is such a terrible story. My SD is friends with her son. So very sad. Killed after leaving church on Mother's Day. Unbelievable.

SOMETHING has to be done about the elderly being re-tested at a certain age. This happens so often!!!!
So sad To lose your mom ON Mother's Day (and that way). I can't imagine.
DH and I always say that. It's a natural fact of life that your reflexes are not the same when you get older. It's a part of the aging process. But you get your license when you are 17 or whatever, and that's it for the rest of your life. You can drive until the day you die, even if you have health problems, etc. Something needs to change.
The driver believed she had thrown the car into drive — but still had it in reverse, police said. When motorist Ann Riolo hit the accelerator to go forward, she instead kept going backward and jumped the curb.
Just the other week here in Astoria, an elderly man pinned a pedestrian to the side of a building as he was walking on a sidewalk. Thankfully he survived. The driver said he meant to hit the brakes, but hit the accelerator instead.
People of a certain age should definitely be required to be retested, so scary!

Her quick thinking saved her daughter. It's an instinct you cannot turn off. This is a terrible tragedy. May she Rest In Peace
