Shaving of tonsils and adenoids...after...
My 5 year old had his tonsils and adenoids shaved down on Monday. He is very lethargic and quiet and just not himself. How long does it take to get your kid back after this surgery. It kills me to see I'm this way. It took him and hour to eat a mac and cheese, and he's my 71 lbs 5 year old. I know it probably hurts, he's just so out of it.

I would think 7-10 days. My DS would wake up screaming at night and a coworker of mine (whose ex was a surgeon) said it can sometimes take that long for kids to recover from the anesthesia.

Thank you. I know it takes time. He is surprisingly not complaining too much about pain. He just looks like a zombie. I never thought of the anesthesia.

Days 3-4 are the hardest! Scabs are forming then, but kids usually bounce back right after this. I definitely saw a change after the fourth day... he was back to normal within a week and the only way you would know he had them out was because his voice changed. Good luck!
