Spin-off to Easter Baskets

When do you stop making "Easter baskets" for your nieces and nephews? Some are on the older side now (14). I definitely don't remember getting anything from aunts/uncles at that age.

ETA: I will probably still give my kids something small when they get older since they are my kids. I am more so wondering about nieces/nephews. We always gave them baskets when they were younger (coloring books, jump ropes, candy, bubbles etc etc). Now that I have 2 small kids their parents buy my kids stuff so I feel obligated getting them something as well. I try buying them something small but it adds up to a $100 worth of crap that they don’t seem to really care about since they are older. The oldest is 14 and the youngest is 9. My husband said maybe we shouldn’t get anyone over 12 anything but then I feel like someone will feel hurt being left out.

I think in my family 16 was the cutoff for pretty much all kids stuff. Although my niece who is 21 still gets an Easter basket from her mom. And very little candy in it, perfume, jewelry, stuff like that. I think that is over the top.

ETA: Her basket contained a D&G bottle of perfume, a $200 Tiffany bracelet "she had to have", a pair of Swarovski earring studs (she lost one of her other ones about a month ago so she said she needed a new pair), and a pair of Coach flip flops along with a few other small things-new pjs, etc. She was upset she didn't get the sunglasses she wanted and said she'd better get them in 2 months for her birthday (but she really "needs them now"). This is after she got a brand new Easter dress that she has now decided she prob won't wear again because she didn't like the back zipper on it (she didn't notice it when when they bought it).

My mom still made me easter baskets well into adulthood... I was super sad not getting one the past few years. They were just cutesy things and some candy, nothing too crazy. She still goes bananas at Christmas time.

I only get an Easter basket for my child. I can't imagine getting one for all my nieces and nephews.

I honestly feel like once you start, it's hard to stop. In my family, 21 was the cut off for Christmas gifts. I think 18 is reasonable for Christmas. I think a younger age (12?)is acceptable for Easter.

I never did. Apparently this was a thing in DH's family, though. There were ten kids altogether with DH, his siblings, and his cousins. So he would get a basket from the Easter Bunny, one from his grandparents, and one from each aunt.

My SILs get DS baskets like it's Christmas. I told DH there is no way we are reciprocating like that once they have kids.

I have 2 nieces and 1 nephew (the oldest is 12). I've always given them little things for Easter. I don't make a basket, but I pick up a few little things and put it in a gift bag. This year I gave the oldest a Starbucks gc, chapstick, Eos hand lotion and jellybeans. I don't know when I'll stop, but to me, it's just a fun little thing to put together for the kids.

I would probably transition to a few $5 gcs(Starbucks/target/iTunes/etc), some candy, and call it a day until they're 18?

I get my nephews a small present and my neice i give some cash to. This year DD wanted spy gear night vision goggles so i bought them for my nephews too.

My parents made easter baskets for me until High School I think but we never did/do easter baskets for anyone but our own kids.

Easter baskets for my nephew(3) and cousins daughter(6) consist of regular t shirts, or bathing suits, and maybe some dollar store sidewalk chalk and bubbles. That's it.

For my kids (6&2)we got them bathing suits and 2 little wrestling figures, one of those water squirters all from dollar tree, a Spider-Man and Star Wars plate and bowl from target

My intention for each kid is to stop when they hit 13 but we'll see

We don't do presents at Easter - the bunny brings 1 basket per child.

I do make my nephews easter baskets I only I have 2 and I will have no more than that since by brother passed away on my DH his brother has one kid and we never even met her.

I will probably stop making them easter baskets when they around 12 and just probably give them cash or gift card only

I made one for my godson, who is a baby and probably will until he's a teenager.

The nephews on DH's side are Jewish, which makes my life infinitely easier.

I didn't make a basket for my kids. We did an egg hunt and then they each got a small gift from dh and myself.... my daughter got oil pastels she was asking for, my son mr sketch crayons he wanted for homework and my almost 2 year old got bubbles. Each was under $10.

My mil and mother each made them a basket though.

I am a believer in just do what you want to do. There will always be someone who does more and someone who does left. I try not to stress.

I only have 2 nephews, so I feel like I'll be giving the, for awhile. The baskets have changed though over the years. Now they are around 10, and we got them each a chocolate bunny, box of sour patch kids, and $10 iTunes gift card.
