Driving for a meeting and no overnight accommodation

Dh company is usually pretty good with this but he was just inform he have to go Wednesday to a training 3 1/2 away each way and they are not offering him a hotel. I think this to much driving in 1 day for them not to provide one night stay in a hotel. It's this normal?

My DH has traveled that distance for work in 1 day and not been given a hotel room. Usually, he travels that distance with a group of people if that makes a difference.

It could go either way. Some companies are tighter when it comes to things like that.
If it were me, i would pay for my own room just for my own convenience.

I go to charlotte and Chicago for the day. Heck I even went to San Fran for one night.

I don't see the problem with it. My DH also to philly and D.C. For the day.

My concern is the driving super early and than tired late by himself for that long stretch

I don't think 7 hours of driving is fair to ask in one day. I go to DC often for work and I take the train there and back in one day but I can work, rest, etc on the train, not as draining as that much driving. And if I asked to stay overnight that would not be a problem.

I regularly had to go to boston or philly for the day from suffolk LI. Never was given overnight accommodations unless I paid for it myself.

I did it once while pregnant. I said never again. I was stuck in traffic on the way home. Didn't get home till almost midnight then had to catch my normal 6am train the next day. I need sleep. I was exhausted.
