Pool party for 5 year olds?

My sons birthday is in June. I'm a member at lifetime fitness in garden city which has a spectacular zero entry indoor and outdoor pools with slides, fountains etc. I was thinking of doing their bday party there but is 5 too young for a pool party? Would the parents hate me if we all had to wear bathing suits lol?

My friend did this for her 5 year old and it was fine. She did spend extra to have a dedicated lifeguard for the group so the parents could be a bit more relaxed. It was so much fun.

DS is 4 and takes swimming lessons, so by 5 I think he will know how to swim. But I'd still be hesitant to have a pool party that young. Personally, I'd wait until the kids are older so they can go in without the parents.

Pool party for 5 year olds?

I think it is fine and sounds fun. Kids who cant swim wear a puddle jumper. My dd has an end of the yr party for the past 2 yrs (4 and 5 yrs old). All the kids who can't swim wear a puddle jumper

Lifetime is very strict. Yes, they will have parents go in... and the swim test is pretty tight (we had an eight year old who was taking lessons fail because he pooped out).

It depends on your crowd. We had no problem getting in the pool.

I think if you're getting a lifeguard it's fine.

I would not go to any party that required me to wear a bathing suit. Ever.

Re: Pool party for 5 year olds?

My daughter went to one for a girl turning 5, most kids were 4. At least one parent had to get in the pool with each child and I have to be honest, I hated it. It was in the middle of the winter so that didn't help, but I feel like asking the parents to get in a bathing suit and get in a pool for a birthday party is too much.

I had a pool party for my daughter in our backyard when she was turning 6 and all of her friends were already 6. I hired a lifeguard and by then all the kids can swim so it was fine. I would wait another year or two when 99% of parents won't feel obligated to get in the pool.

I would probably sulk about it for a minute, but it wouldn't be a big deal to me, if my kid wanted to go.

Really depends on your crowd I'd think. I wouldn't expect most people want to get in a pool with strangers, then having to shower and get ready after the party for the rest of the day, I know it would be tough with our schedule.

Pool party for 5 year olds?

I would not be a fan of any party that required me to go in a pool. DD is 5 and still doesn't know how to swim so I wouldn't feel comfortable with that aspect. Also, the idea of putting on a bathing suit in front of people I may barely know makes me uncomfortable.

I will say, the pool you're thinking about having it at sounds amazing!!

I think it depends on the people you are inviting. I know my friends (the mothers of my DD's friends) probably wouldn't think twice about it, but we have gone to Great Wolf, the beach, etc. where we are all in swimsuits.

I have driven by that pool, and it looks amazing!! I say go for it!
