What percentage of your gross income do you spend on travel annually?
My husband and I are disagreeing on how much to spend...

About 5% of our gross annual pay. We take about 5 trips a year, ranging from weekend get-aways to Disney trips, to the Outer Banks....

probably 5-10%. we both grew up traveling a lot, so its important to us. we live in a lot smaller house than what we could probably afford, just so we have extra money to travel.
Last year, we did a disney cruise in january, outer banks in july, and disney world in august. This year we already have a disney cruise booked for november.. and will probably do a week in the outer banks this summer, too. ALSO 2 trips to korea in there, but those are to adopt our new son, so i don't really count those as "travel".. more as part of the adoption budget we've been saving.

We don't travel much to be honest
Especially now with DD in school- I don't want to pull her out for more than 1 day and it's too expensive and I don't do crowds- so school breaks are out.
I like travelling but it's also a huge hassle so I'm ok with just going to a few places here and there and splurging on that. (higher end hotels, etc)

I'd say 5 - 10% depending on what work we are planning on doing to the house that year.

I wasn't paying attention and did 10% thinking net pay, but it's about 5% for gross pay. I take out about 10% every month and put it into our travel fund.

Never thought about it percentage wise. Based on our current salaries it is 2% of gross salary or less, which includes our timeshare fee.

What percentage of your income on travel?
Never ever once set a yearly budget for travel. We decide as time comes what we are goign to do. But we generally do not take huge trips that cost thousands of dollars so that might be why.
Most of our trips are to my parents in FL or a few days here and there. I had a Disney trip planned for a 1/2 marathon but that was cancelled due to my injury and we will re-schedule when I get better.

That's what we did before kids, I'd say we spent 20-30% of our income on travel, lived the rest of the year crazy-cheap. No regrets, we know we won't be able to travel like that again until we're in our 50s :)

We do two big trips. One is a winter one (skiing and snowboarding) and we do another Caribbean one. We try to squeeze in 1-2 weekend getaways. We have money taken out of our checks weekly and have it deposited to a vacation savings account. When it is all said and done, it is about 7-8% of our salary.

Before we had kids we'd take a big trip or two a year and maybe one or two short weekend trips... probably worked out to about 5% of our gross income at the time, at most. Now it's 0%.. too much trouble with kids but someday I'd like to be back to 5% again.

About 5%.
We are fortunate to travel a lot but usually do it on a budget, go during off-peak times, rent apartments instead of stay at resorts.

What percentage of your income on travel?
They did a study on happiness and found that people are happier in general and for longer when they spend money on travel/experiences than "stuff".
So with that in mind... I do a lot of trips here and there and don't feel guilty about the cost. Not sure what the percentage would be.

I have never once thought about it like this. We pretty much set a savings goal and use whatever is left on vacations. Life has been crazy so we haven't had a trip in a long time so therefore we are going all out this year.
I think we should spend more. Hoping to do a few long weekend trips this year which will add to the budget.
I wish we had more time off so we could take more trips!

Not sure but we don't go on vacation every year. We're about to go on our first real vacation for the first time in 2.5 years. It was planned almost a year in advance so we could pay for it little by little since we only have 1 income right now.

Pretty much this. We do a ski vacation and a summer vacation and probably 3-4 weekend trips a year. We will go off peak until DS1 is in middle school. Then we will have to up the vacation fund.

That's me. I always get the best deal possible- discount tickets to shows/amusement parks, mostly use timeshares, save miles to use towards airfare, drive instead of flying when possible, etc... But I average roughly a trip per month- even if it's just a night or two somewhere.
