If they are keeping it quiet to protect his privacy, I can completely understand and respect that. If they're keeping it quiet because they're ashamed it'll make them look less "perfect", then that would be disgusting.
This. I don't think they have to disclose it at all. I almost think Melania would want to keep it private and Trump would be the latter.
The kid should be off limits.

Regarding the SNL tweet and this question, it has generally been the rule that we leave the kids alone. With each president, there's usually some story that breaks at some point (Bush girls partying, Malia's smoking pot) but most everyone sees it as distasteful and the stories are short-lived.
This is their business, and the kid has a right to grow up with some shred of normalcy.

He should have his privacy. He is a 10 year old child who did not ask to be put in the spotlight. It is disgusting and disgraceful some of the thing being said and posted about this child. So many are complaining that Trump is a bully but yet they find it ok to turn around and bully/cyberbully a 10 year old child. People have to learn to practice what they preach!!

I think Barron's health should be private. It has no bearing or effect on the country. However, it could be a huge platform for Melania to raise awareness for and to help others with the same issue.
That's what I think. Of course, no one is entitled to know his health status. However, is it stigma or privacy that prevented John Travolta from disclosing this about his son?
If the trump boy does have autism or another developmental disorder, Melania has a massive potential platform to speak out, raise awareness and advocate for our disabled kids!
Sure, if she wants to. But the poor lady looks like she wants to run away. This is not going to be easy for her.

Of course they don't have to "come out" IF he does in fact have some sort of disability. But why hide it? Why be ashamed? Especially when in SUCH a public position that could do SO MUCH for the plight.
He of course could just be socially awkward because he is probably around adults most of his time. He has his own floor in their penthouse I've read. Seems isolated. He might not know HOW to react when around a bunch of people. Who knows, and honestly, who cares?!

But i will admit, I thought he may have special needs and this is also why they are reluctant to move. It somehow made it easier for me to accept that they want to stay in NY.

Not anyone's business. Just because Melania is the first lady, even IF her son had autism, etc, does not mean she needs to be the spokesperson for it. For many with children with special needs, it's a sensitive and private issue. Not everyone wants to be a public speaker.

Hi, I'm the OP. Um, it's a thread because I was curious if people thought the "first family" should or should not disclose if the boy does in fact have a disorder. I obviously thought it was an interesting question!
I personally think his behavior and affect seem like they could be atypical. There has been a lot of speculation and now jokes being made about him, so the public is noticing.
Personally, I recognize the boy is entitled to privacy, but I have wondered if he does have a developmental disorder, will they will address it (if Don's ego could stand it). I was thinking of how much good could be done to raise awareness and resources for special needs children.

I actually agree with you for once! I agree they are not obliged to disclose his health status.
Of course he didn't want to be president so he could be the autism spokesperson. I'm sure he has much more megalomaniacal reasons. But that's another story!

I don't think the children should be brought to attention unless the family wants to for one reason or another or they agree as a family to do so. I don't think any child should be made fun of-it is wrong no matter what you think of their parents..their parents are adults who asked to be in a situation and should be able to handle things..this child is not...I feel badly about what was said about him as no child deserves that.
