Their license was suspended due to very serious violations including corporal punishment.
Being a big chain facility unfortunately means nothing. I worked for a different tutor time years ago as well as a private but large center and when it came to find a daycare, I purposely stayed away from those types of places.

My daughter goes there. I've been on the phone with state agencies all morning trying to get more information. I'm devastated because we just moved her there a few months ago and after a rough transition she now loves it. We love her teachers and I literally cannot believe what I'm reading.

Yes, I can't believe it. I used the Tutor Time in Holbrook from the time DD was 8 weeks old until she went to K and she went back for camp this summer.
They were nothing short of amazing and I couldn't believe how tight a ship they ran.
Each center is individually operated though so just because it's part of the chain, doesn't mean they will all have the same level of care etc.
So scary and sad.
I saw on their website they are referring people to the other Tutor Times in the area like Oakdale, Islandia and Holbrook until they get this cleared up.
I highly recommend Holbrook for anyone who needs a place. I cannot say enough good about them.

Good point about them being individually owned and operated. I've just been scarred for life from my experience as an employee at one of their facilities.
Also it should be known that daycares just don't lose their licenses for allegations. Allegations are made and investigated. If they're not serious or if they're unfounded, they won't close them. For them to have been given 11 violations on Friday and closed on Tuesday, they found something very serious in their investigation.

Yeah I am dying to know exactly what went down. But it says their licence is suspended and can be reinstated once they determine what needs to be corrected. So I am wondering if they clean up their act if they will be allowed to operate again. But man is that some bad press, who would want to use them again after this? Sad all around.

People will forget. Someone posted an article from a few years ago that said that the same TT got in trouble when a teacher tied a 2 year old to a chair.

Same here about being scarred for life from being an employee of one! But I also hear amazing things about others that were owned by different people. Holbrook being one of the good ones!

I heard abot that tutor time a few years ago with the chair incident..so scary.. My dd goes to Precious lambs on Broadway Avenue in Holbrook. The owner is amazing and takes the state very seriously and her teachers. There are cameras in every room so she can see what is going on at all times. I absolutely love it there.

I have waited almost a week to speak anywhere about this, but I need to get it out.
My 19 month old daughter was in the room where the most serious violations took place. My husband and I have met with OCFS and are still waiting for the investigation to be completed - as of yet she hasn't been named as a victim of any so-called "mishandling" (as described by the director) or "corporal punishment" (as described by the state). I have been warned that I may never know for sure.
One thing I know to be true is that during one of the worst weeks of my life, the only thing more painful than having the most primal form of trust - trusting your child in the hands of another - betrayed...was having to read countless threads of people saying "I could never send my child there again" and "thats why I stay FAR away from Tutor Time, those places are a nightmare."
I have removed my child from the program, but it's a lot easier to type out "I would never send my child back - there are daycares all over long island" than it is to try and wrap your mind around putting your toddler through a huge change like that. It wasn't an easy decision for us and thankfully our old daycare has taken us back with open arms and she is readjusting beautifully.
Sorry this got so long - My main point IS that behind these stories that float around on Facebook and boards like this as juicy gossip are anguished parents who love their children just as much as you love yours. Parents who are working and doing the best they can.
I beg that at the next childcare drama to hit the airwaves, you choose your words more carefully. Someone might be reading them on the worst day of their life.

Many many hugs to you. My DS was in that Tutor Time until very recently. We only pulled him out in September to go to UPK, otherwise we would still be there (and I now have an infant DD who would have been there as well.) We were seriously considering going back there for the summer once UPK is over. Those comments have stung me as well. And I am so sorry your daughter was in the room where the violations took place. I don't know any details but I read the violations and I was horrified. Please don't feel like everyone is judging you, SO many families are in that daycare and I really loved it there. It's a true shame all around. I'm glad you were able to go back to your old daycare!

It is very easy to sit behind your computer and say that you would never ever send you child. The day care that my children are in was closed down for an "incident" that occurred. Similar posts were floating around social media. I personally saw the video of the alleged "child abuse and corporal punishment" and it was far from that. Governor Cuomo signed a new law that the school can be closed before there is proof of issue. The funny thing is the school was closed because they were so bad but the same people said that if the school paid the state $10,000 they could open up the next day. Funny that it was so bad that the school had to be closed but if they paid the find there was no more issue. So remember there is always more to the story.
I am not saying what happened in this day care is good (I have no idea whether it was or not). All i am saying is it is not always what OCFS says!

I'm one of the posters that is being referred to here. I'm not just sitting behind a computer trying to make people upset. I've been on this site for almost 5 years and I never post on threads that people are fighting on. I agreed with what someone else had said. I had an experience at a different tutor time. There were Things I witnessed that I probably should have said something (which to this day I'm still mad at myself for not) it wouldn't have shut the place down, but some teachers would have been fired. I was young and stupid and I'm a very quiet person. When I posted earlier I never thought I would be making someone's day worse. And I felt bad when I read that. So...
To pj I'm sorry for my post. I wouldn't have done it had I thought it was going to hurt someone.
