question about PTO days, how many do u have

None bc I'm a sahm lol

But at my last job which I left 10 months ago, I got 10 vacation, 6 sick, and 1 personal. I believe there were 8 paid holidays. However, in the last year, any new hires were only given 5 vacation days, maybe 4 sick, and no personal days for at least the first couple of years.

question about PTO days, how many do u have

20 vaca days
5 personal days
12 sick days/year (accrue 1/mo)
I think 10 paid holidays
We can carry over a certain amt of vaca time and bank up to 40 days of sick, and have a very liberal work from home policy (basically I can just say that I am working from home and don't need permission)

My old job was
28 vaca days
2 personal days
12 sick days (accrue 1/mo)
12 paid holidays

Re: question about PTO days, how many do u have

I think many companies give you a lot of PTO in name but no one ever uses all of their days. I often feel like the higher up you are, the more dedicated and less time you take off.

I know my old bosses at some places I worked at rarely took vacation and they obviously had way more money and PTO than I did.

My lawyer and finance friends never take all their vacation days. DH is a physician and I think he technically has 30 days per year. He probably takes off 15 days per year. DH has never taken a sick day in his entire working life. He is only taking 5 days off for the birth of our child. He could take as much as he wants but he chose 5 days. Both his partners took only 1 day off and they both had kids this year.

This is very true. I have rarely used all my time and more often than not wind up with time that can't be carried over that I lose at the end of the year (at previous jobs. We can carry time over at my current job and can accrue up to 200 sick days)

What stinks is that vacation never goes above 15 days, no matter how long you're here.

I agree.
I just saw I have a personal day that I have to use or lose by end of the year( we get 2 personal days that are use or lose by end of calendar year) so I put in to take it on the last day of December just so I dont' lose it.

I have thousands of sick hours that keep carrying over because I don't think I have ever taken a full on "sick day" where I am not working- if I am sick I will work from home. I worked with the flu last year- from home - for 5 straight days. I'd have to be hospitalized to actually need a real text book "sick day" where I am not on my computer or checking email on my phone or taking calls.

I have so much accrued vacation time it's a joke too- once i hit like 250 hours I think- I have to start taking it or I stop accruing.

But taking a lot of pto time is just not something I can do with the nature of my job

question about PTO days, how many do u have

I get about 25 PTO days per year, I accrue 14.58 hours per month. We can continue to accrue until we reach 266 hours, then we stop accruing until we use time and don't get back credit. After 5 years I will get 30 days and after 10 years it will be 32 days.

My last job I was at 30 days, but we could carry over up to 8 days and get paid for up to 5 days. Anything beyond that was lost.

I've never used all my days and always got paid for at least a few and carried some over. Here, I feel like I will take more of my time since I will stop accruing once I reach a certain point. I will be ending the year with almost 12 days left over, so I am thinking of taking off the last week of the year.

I dont know. I didn't accept the offer yet. I'm still waiting for some clarifications on a few things.

I was thinking if I take, raises come with evaluations and maybe at that time.

It seems at the last two jobs my PTO has gone down not better. 15 for everything is not great.

They are paying for my health/dental premium until I add dependents or if I want to bump the coverage up

20 vacation

I always use all my days sick and vacation. There are no other benefits at my company so I am going to use the one that they give me to my advantage.

Re: question about PTO days, how many do u have

At my company, all employees start out w 20 PTO days (includes sick/personal). Bereavement is 3 days (not set in stone, managers have discretion to award more). After 5 years, employees get an additional 3 days, and so forth (by year 15, you would get 28 total PTO).

PTO accrues at the rate of 1-2 days a month, and employees are eligible to "buy" up to an extra 6 days at the end of the year (for the following year). If any or all of those 1-6 "purchased" PTO days aren't used- employees can cash them out at Annual Enrollment period. If an employee doesn't use all their PTO, they can carry over up to 5 days of unused time for the following year.

We only get 7-8 holidays ( we dont get MLK day, Veterans Day, Columbus Day - personal PTO must be used if we want to take those days).

At my firm, all lawyers take their PTO. We are encouraged to do so, and this past year I used all 32 days of PTO.

fifteen days isn't that bad. I know it sounds like its horrible bun in reality its 3 weeks. I have never had an issue with not having enough and paid medical and an increase in salary is probably worth it IMO!

My last job filed Ch 11 and they owe me 4 weeks of vacation which is now been deemed unsecured amt so I wont be getting any or it can take yrs, based on the last court hearing this week. I struggle to take my PTO days until I am forced, bc I have this fear of using and if I really need due to illness I wont have. Illness messed my mind up. owed so much bc I never take days off lol

Odd thing, the medical coverage begins the day you start work at the
"new place" no waiting for 9 days, the pay is about 20% higher than now
