Who should be taken first?

A walk-in comes into a nail salon for a manicure at 4pm and is told they could be taken but it would be a 10-15 minute wait.

A woman comes in at 4:15, 15 minutes late for a 4pm appointment.

Should the walk-in be taken first? Or the person coming late for their appointment?

I actually think the walk in. Fifteen minutes late at a nail salon you forfeit your appt IMO.

Yes I agree too. My dad owns a barber shop and says once you approach the 10 min mark, you change to a walk-in. No ifs, ands or buts and all his regulars know so

Walk in. 15 minutes late you're no longer the 4:00 appt.

Re: Who should be taken first?

I think it all depends on the situation.

I have been going to my nail salon for 12+ years.... I am never late..... but if I was, I know my nail tech would wait for me.

I was just going to say that if you have a specific technician, the tech would probably wait for you.

If just general appointment, I would think they should give the walk in the first available before the late person even walked in.

That would be my thought as well - if this was a long standing customer, I would expect them to be taken first.

What if they're both long-standing customers? What if the customer who walked-in was long-standing and the one who was late was a new customer? Who should go first in either scenario?
