Hamilton casting flyer
What do you think about the Hamilton casting flyer that called for "non-white" actors?
I can certainly see why it looks bad in writing and if reversed it would be against the law. In hindsight they should not have put that in writing even if in reality they were only going to hire people who resemble the people they were portraying
I mean if youre going to do a movie about Whitney Houstons life you arent going to have Gwyneth Paltrow as the star!

Hmmm. Personally, in this case I don't see anything wrong with it. It's like when they put a casting call for a blue eyed, blonde female over 5'9". They are looking to fill a role. Just like you said for a Whitney movie, I bet that casting call would have pretty specific details wanted.

It's a show casting for specific roles, I don't see anything wrong with what they wrote. Isn't it common for any show/movie/commercial to call out what they are specifically looking for in a casting call?

I saw posts on FB recently (after Pence went to the show) with the Hamilton flyer attached saying "hypocrites". Its pro Trump people who dont like BLM movement either. Its the never ending race issues

I'm not bothered by it. For years the majority of roles in commercials, tv and movies were for white people with the occasional token non-white character. I don't think this would be a thing had they not called out Mike Pence.

And Rockettes must be between 5'6" and 5’10 ½" tall -- since I'm only 5'2 I never had a chance.....

"Whites only" would NEVER happen in a million years because it doesn't HAVE to happen.

Yes. Wasn't there an awards show in the past year or two where no black actors won an award and tons of people cried racism?
I think it was the academy awards. This situation kind of remind me of that.
