Does your company have a Holiday Party?
We used to have a huge corporate holiday party, in addition to individual department parties, but things have gotten scaled way down over the years.
We still have a catered off-site holiday party, but not as big as we used to.

Does your company have a Holiday Party?
I have lunches at restaurants given by the 2 departments that I work for (see my post about the scheduling conflict)
There is also an evening holiday party at a catering type place - we have to pay if we want to go

Well we are based in Virginia with offices all over the country so each region is kind of responsible for their own holiday party, getting the budget for it etc
For a long while we did nothing in the NY region but in the last 4 years, a new RVP came in and they do up a pretty big party in NYC for the NY region.
But it's the employee AND the customer party....so you are always expected to mingle with and schmooze the customers. So it's not really a fun party- more of a working party I guess.
I haven't' gone in a few years to that one.
Then my boss always runs a little holiday get together out at a bar for just our team and some vendors and customers we are close with. More informal.
There are other little spin offs too- the leadership team has a party for leadership members only, etc.

Yes - they have a holiday luncheon on a Friday in December. We used to have individual department lunches as well but, most of our team works in other locations now so I doubt we will do it.

yes - we have a dinner one night in December. It's nothing big. I actually wish they would switch it to a luncheon. I spend enough time with my coworkers - I have to have dinner with them too???????

DH's company has a big Xmas party in January (don't ask lol) at Villa Lombardi's. Employees only though, no spouses.

My old company used to do that - Xmas party in January.
I know it was cheaper and all, but man, everyone was over the holidays, eating, drinking etc by then.
It just didn't feel right

I have a new job this year and they have like 5 parties. And a Thanksgiving party. And a New Year's party. For all I know they may very well have a Groundhog Day party with crepe paper groundhogs.
My old job had a party no one on my team went to and no one acknowledged the holidays beyond asking for days off. I miss those miserable SOBs so freaking much.

Nope.
I used to work for a company that had one and it got cancelled because people called in sick the next day.
We had that issue at one of my jobs, so the boss finally gave the next day off. Most years we had to show up to the party otherwise we did not get our bonus.

Yes, a large party in the city, everyone can bring a guest.
To save money, the hold it during the week.
If I do go, it is an "eat and run" out of there by 8:30 even though the party goes to 11.
No allowances for coming in later the following morning
