Beach Essentials for Infant?

Please suggest essential items I need for my infant at the beach. What kind of seat or tent should I get?

Re: Beach Essentials for Infant?

How old is the infant? We have been going with our now 4 month old since she was about 2.5 months. She doesn't sit up unassisted yet and rolls around a lot but isn't really super mobile. We do have a shade tent and a regular beach umbrella. I honestly prefer the regular umbrella because it's easier to put chairs under and you get more airflow. So I would say an umbrella, beach blanket/big towel that baby can lay on and roll around, hat with a big brim, rash guard/bathing suit with sleeves, maybe some toys that are easy to clean (like rattles and things that are all plastic. We've gone to the ocean beach where we're parking and walking and also lake beach where we have a house within walking distance. At the lake we usually bring the stroller down, but at the ocean, I usually walk there with her in the Ergo carrier. Just easy to carry other stuff and don't have to worry about having the stroller.

Definitely be prepared to nurse or give formula more frequently if it's hot. They do get hot and thirsty just like we do! And also plenty of water for you.

The sport brella is awesome! We have the one with no floor so sand doesn't get stuck in it. My sister just lets the baby hang in the car seat in there and she's happy as can be with shade and a breeze. My girls sit under it and play in the sand.

You don't need anything special.
We do umbrella & blanket.
Car seat gets super hot due to the way it is semi enclosed.
I bring formula to supplement because we both get dehydrated.

If you have a jogging stroller that is a game changer for pulling it on sand.

yes jogging strollers are the best on sand.

We usually dont bring too much just a blanket, sun screen, we have a half tent thing that gives us some shade. a mini cooler thing with water and yogurt and other little snacks. Depending on your LO age some sand toys.

Beach Essentials for Infant?

We are at the beach for a week right now and have a regular umbrella, sportbrella and a tent (Pacific Breeze XL). We like the regular umbrella and tent best. We place the umbrella just outside tent to give extra coverage and then put a chair under for when we are holding her. The tent has a floor which is minimizes the sand. DD hangs out in there most. I clipped some toys up and it's like she's on her activity map. We also have a portable fold up bouncy chair, which isn't essential bc I have the car seat but it's not as hot and we already had it for when we are in our backyard. Our older kids liked the sportbrella bc they could play in the sand while in the shade but it was really windy yesterday and it was a pain to put up. The pacific breeze tent is easy to put up.

My sister has the regular and I have the xl. Honestly, I kind of wish I'd gotten the regular. I want thinking about the extra weight to carry and it's a little intimidating to set up. The regular was plenty if room for two adults to sit under with the car seat between us. With the xl, there's more than enough room for dh and myself to sit and the two kids to play in the sand which is nice.
