Beach with infant

DD will be 5 months old next week. We will be visiting family on cape cod a couple of times and will head to the beach, and hopefully go while home this summer. I hav never been to the beach with an infant so I am clueless.

1. Did you take a stroller with you to the beach? If so was it an umbrella stroller or something else? (we have the britax b-agile stroller, and will need an umbrella at some point.)

2. Did you have them sit under a beach umbrella most of the time at the beach or under something else?

3. If you put them in sand how do you get them NOT to eat sand? lol. Everything she touches goes right into her mouth right now.

Any other suggestions for taking an infant to the beach or things to remember?

TIA!

Beach with infant

My dd was 7 months when she was on the beach for the first time. I had an umbrella which she stayed under most of the time. Only time not under is when my husband took her for a walk and I took her for a walk by the water. She was covered in sunblock and had her sun hat on.
I did let her play with the sand and had toys for her I just watched her like a hawk pretty much. At least twice she tried to put her hand in her mouth and I caught her just in time LOL

Lets see this is what I brought:
Swimmers diapers just in case
Sunblock
bug spray
sun hat
towel
reg diapers
wipes
paper towels
food/sippy cup/bottles/formula
cooler bag to pack all of the above
umbrella (unless one is supplied by the hotel or there are cabanas already set up)
beach toys
bag for wet bathing suit if you bring her in water
change of clothes just in case
bathing suit coverup

That's all I can think of. And that was more than enough. I probably over packed but that just me. LOL I always take too much because I hate being out and realizing I forgot something...

PS just have fun! Its sooo much fun watching them play for the first time in the sand. My dd had a BLAST playing!
