Tobay Beach/Sprinkler Park
I am in town of Hempstead so I know I will have to pay like $50 to park but the website says only Monday-Friday. So can I not go on a Sunday? I called the number and the person on the phone said any day is fine but she sounded like a kid. Anyone know?

Re: Tobay Beach/Sprinkler Park
I have heard that non residents are not allowed in at all on weekends. But don't quote me on that
ETA_ found it:
Parking fees: TOB Residents $20 daily, $60 season; Non-residents permitted Mondays through Fridays only (except holidays): $50 daily.
So, yes, you can't go on a weekend if you are not a resident

I think it's more that they want to discourage non residents from coming in- to keep the crowds down and make it more of a private feel

They have the kids sprinkler park and a restaurant as well.

Yes But $50 is still excessive to get in to PAY them to eat at their restaurant.
The sprinkler area is nice- but I wouldn't pay $50 for it
But I can see why they do it- if it was cheap to get in, it would be PACKED

I don't believe you have to pay to eat at the restaurant.

Re: Tobay Beach/Sprinkler Park
Non residents can only go Mon-Fri. It gets very crowded on the weekends. It is a beautiful beach and the spray park is great but 50.00 is a lot

$50!! That is insane. I have never been, but from the pictures I see online it does not seem all that great, especially for that price.

I grew up in TOB so I went there as a kid. It's a beach. It's a nice beach, but so are plenty of others on Long Island. I go to Robert Moses now and for $10 it's just as nice.
Granted, the sprinkler park has been added since I was there, and yes, that's a great perk. But not a $50 perk IMO
It's nice for the residents in that by making it residents only on the weekends and charging exhoborant fees during the week, it keeps the crowds down vs say a state park beach.
But other than that....it's not the be all end all

Yeah I was going to say- it would be a bit insane to ask people to pay to park just to eat at a restaurant. That didn't make much sense

Honestly , while the sprinkler park is nice but the bay is gross. It's convenient with kids because no waves but the sand is covered in geese poop. Even as you walk into the water.
