Maternity leave
Does anyone know if I take maternity leave do I have to return to my current job for any specific length of time? I'm ttc and don't want to lose my maternity benefits but don't want to return after my 4 months off. I don't even know who at my company I would ask without setting off bells.
And has anyone job hunted while on maternity leave?
I need to.leave my job but I can stick it out for the maternity benefits unless they get rid of my position first.

Re: Maternity leave
I think it depends on your company. The Company I work for doesn't pay the benefits until you come back to work. They pro rate it over 90 days after return.

Re: Maternity leave
It depends on the company. I did not return and got my disability, and annual bonus that was paid during maternity leave. I would have had to repay medical benefits but I was on DHs plan.

Maternity leave
My job doesn't even pay benefits, just whatever time I have accumulated. I'd ask someone you can trust- that way you can explain the situation without alerting the wrong people.

Re: Maternity leave
I think it depends on the company but for me it wouldn't have been a problem if I chose not to go back to work, since I only used the vacation time that I had accrued.

Re: Maternity leave
It depends on the company, but USUALLY as long as you come back - even for a day - it's not a problem.
I went back to my previous job and got an offer for my new/current job on my first day back after maternity leave. I waited until my third day back and quit. It wasn't a problem.

Maternity leave
I had to come back for 30 days or I'd have to reimburse them for my medical benefits while on leave

Re: Maternity leave
i had a full 12 weeks, fully paid for
BUT the condition was that i had to come back for 6 months after If i didn't, i'd have to pay back a portion of it
i knew that i'd be going back (no choice) so never looked into the alternative further
every company is different - do you have a handbook or online benefits guide you can refer to?

Maternity leave
I didn't return to work after my maternity leave and did not have to pay anything. I just had to go back in for my exit interview and to turn in my badge.
