Benadryl/Antihistamine - waking up early

Quick background:
DD has eczema (doctor says its pretty bad)
Usually she is ok, but she scratches at night, especially early in the morning (5/6am) so we sometimes wake up to bloody sheets with her.
She usually goes to sleep around 9 and wakes around 8am

Her doctor recommended Benadryl to help with the itching at night.
We gave it to her for a few nights then stopped then gave it again for a few nights.

I noticed on the nights we gave it to her the next morning she would wake at 7am.

Her dermatologist recommended a prescription Antihistamine - we gave it to her for 3 nights and the next morning she has gotten up at 6am.

I think the 2 are related, why do you think its the case?
I heard that occasionally Benadryl can make the kids hyper, but its not like these medications are keeping her up.
She goes to sleep, but just wakes up early.

Any thoughts?
Thanks

Do you use a topical? DS has eczema and I've tried a million topicals. Finally took him to a dermatologist and he's on a new regimen now that cleared his skin up completely in less than a week.

Whats the new regimen?

We've tried a few different moisturizers and a few different prescription lotions.
Trying a new one now (which I've been told is the second strongest skin medication out there - Fluocinonide)

I meant to look at what the meds were called last night and forgot. I'll try to look again tonight, sorry!

If you want a new dermatologist, though, I'd recommend Dr. Kristal. He came highly recommended to me, and I would have to agree.

Yes I have notcied also that when my daughter takes benedryl she wakes up very early the next morning and is also usually pretty grumpy. I only give it to her for extreme situations, childrens zyrtek is better for her for everyday use.

Its not the best date (7/22) and I wanted to change it but he's booked through August :(

He's worth the wait. When I booked DS's last appt the wait was only 2 weeks but I think the summer is crazy.

He prescribed Alclometason Dipropionate and Mometasone Furoate for DS. Works amazing.
