Any ideas what could be causing my sons rash

Ds is 2 and the past 2 weeks we have been swimming in our salt water pool and hot tub. My son developed a rash on his liwer belly, lower back and thighs. It is really bad under where his waist band from hus bathing suit is. It us so itchy and painful for him. It is small red bumps and super itchy. I do not think it is from sunblock because I dont put sunblock in any of the areas where the rash is. I feel so bad for him. He is so uncomfortable and I fear he is just allergic to something in our pool. Any ideas?

Could it be from sitting in a wet bathing suit after swimming? Maybe do a quick rinse and lotion right after swimming and get him into dry clothes.
I get itchy after going in my parents salt water pool and need to rinse and change right away. I know it's supposed to be better for you and my sister who has bad eczema has no issues but it does still bother me.

My friends kids were allergic to either the mesh or material in the bathing suit. Try using a regular pair of shorts next time.. It was the weirdest thing. ANother friends daughter was allergic to the elastic in her suits..
