I had my 3rd csection and a tubal nearly 2 weeks ago. I had a ton of pain in a horizontal line near my belly button and I chalked it up to added pain from all of the scar tissue he removed and the added procedure of a tubal. At 5 days post procedure, I started getting extreme shivering fits. Called my ob did a urine test which he sent out, and was put on meds for a suspected uti. That was Friday. By Monday, I was still in dire pain and my fever was close to 105. He made me go to the er. I'll be honest, I hated him for it because leaving my three kids, including my one week old, was not an option in my mind, but my ob sending me saved my life. As it turned out, I had a massive abcess between my abdominal wall and bladder, a double kidney infection and sepsis. I had to have the abcess mostly removed in a small surgical procedure and will be on outpatient iv antibiotics when I go home for quite some time. Moral of the story, If you don't feel right, question it!!

Oh wow. Thank Gd you listened to your dr. I never downplay anything like that. Better your kids miss you for the time you went to the er and the procedures, than forever. Glad you didn't mess around! Feel better.

Do you have any idea why it happened? I'm having my 3rd c-section in July and was thinking of doing a tubal at the same time, but I haven't done any research on whether or not it's a good idea. Just wondering if it was a fluke or had to do with the tubal?

It was just bad luck. Nothing to do with thr tubal. It's caused by blood pooling. I had a drain after surgery, but there must have been bleeding.

The same thing happened to my cousin.

I can but it really is no reflective of the dr or hospital. It's just really bad luck. My experience at the hospital during my maternity stay and during this stay has been phenomenal.

Glad you figured it out. But got to say I think your doctor should have done more when he saw you. 5 days after surgery, pain, chills, while a uti is possible, I would be more concerned with infection and surgical complications.
