I took my daughter to the dentist (4) and of course she doesn't want to open her mouth for xrays. She has pain. They said the can do sedation dentistry. Sedation dentistry is not covered. What does one do in this case? It's almost 2k.

laughing gas doesn't work on AJ. As soon as she hears the drill she jerks aware. It NEVER works. I was charged for that visit and the prep and the gas. What a waste.
I just push for sedation now for any work (she has major crowding so we have lots of work).
It's costly to be sure.. they want their office set up fee up front. The anesthesiologist is $800 for 30mins. But that's what I have HSA/FSA for. I specifically save up for her. FSA pays for dental/vision. HSA medical.
I'm usually guaranteed one visit she goes under at least once a year.
Though this year I've been lucky. Then again we are discussion of removing adult teeth because there's no space for her new teeth to come in. Ugh!
ETA: But Xrays.. yah try laughing Gas.. to relax her.. but if it hurts a lot.. try a place that does the bite down surround xray.
Those are less evasive.
