Has anyone ever gone in your pool w/out asking?
My DH allows his buddy and his kids who live across the street to go in our pool. They always call first. Well, every morning when I leave for work I check to make sure the ladder is up. This morning, it was.
Well, when I got home from work I noticed it was down and all the floaties were loose (we normally pile them up). So I put the ladder up and locked it. I called my DH to ask if they called him to go in the pool and he said no.
I mean, it doesn't bother me really if they use it, but ask first. I don't even know if it was them, could have been anyone.
I wish I had a security camera!!!!

someone went in my friends pool the other night, it was their next door neighbors who never asked & it was never discussed, they just went in!

I think Id lose my mind if that happened to me. That is BEYOND rude. Unless you got a lifetime invitation, I would never accept that

Be very careful with this. It could turn into a huge liability if someone gets hurt.

Re: Has anyone ever gone in your pool w/out asking?
I really think this happened to me - Except I never authorized anyone to go in - DH and I always put the ladder up and conveniently it was down one night - I am sure it was up - Now e have a lock on the ladder and the gate - Its ridicolus...

First of all.....yes they should ask you. You are very very nice people to let them do this. But I would be so nervous if I wasn't home. Just me.

Put an end to it!!!! No one should be in your pool without you or your DH there. G-d forbid something happened, they could pursue your assets as consolation.

I would definitely ask them and if they say yes ask that they not do it again. God forbid someone gets hurts or drowns, that will be huge liability for you. You can't trust anyone these days with stuff like that!

Re: Has anyone ever gone in your pool w/out asking?
I was also thinking about it being a liability as well. But also thought how rude to leave the ladder down and the pool stuff strewn about as well....which leads into another liability - if another neighborhood kid somehow wandered into your yard and was only able to access the pool b/c the ladder was left down and something happened to that child...

Re: Has anyone ever gone in your pool w/out asking?
My neighbor has told us repeatedly to use his pool anytime but I would never only because I would feel awkward just going over even if they were home. This happened to my mom. She lives in Fla. and told a neighbor to come over anytime but she meant when they were in the pool feel free to join them. Well she was scared to death when she came home from work one day to find this man swimming in her pool. She also has a very vicious dog and he was very lucky she was inside.

Re: Has anyone ever gone in your pool w/out asking?
Yes, that is my main concern, the liability - God forbid someone gets hurt, that is bad enough but then they will wind up owning my damn house too!! I am going to keep it under lock and key from now on.
ETA - and oh yeah, Casey is in no way vicious, but how would anyone know if she was in the yard and they come barging in? I would be afraid of her getting out! We don't leave her out there if we are not home, but still!!

Re: Has anyone ever gone in your pool w/out asking?
When we moved from Queens to LI when growing up, our house then had an inground pool and the previous owners always let the neighbores in to use the pool. They were older and their youngest son at the time was 18 so we continued that. They would come in at night and I would go in with them and would play with me. They never called but they also didn't leave a mess. I would call your friends and say that you don't mind that they come and use the pool and floats but they need to put everything back and put up the ladder. If is a safety problem if the ladder is down and you some little child that might be lost and wonder into your backyard and go in the pool. If they can't be considerate then you can't leave them in the pool.

My parents and sister and brother have an open invitation to our pool - is it bad if they are family?

Its not bad if their not going to sue you in case something happens. Do you have an umbrella policy on your homeowners insurance?
