which macbook for a college freshman
Buying a mac for my niece but the question is which MacBook?? MacBook Air or std MacBook?
I don't think she needs a pro - as shes not into design or graphics... thoughts?

I would still recommend the Pro, I think. I recently got a new computer and was debating between the Air and the Pro and went with the Pro because Macs loooooooove RAM and you can put more RAM into the Pro.
ETA: If you definitely don't want to do the Pro, then go with the Air.

Its really depends on expectations. I have a Macbook air, we got it probably a year or 2 ago. Its good for what it is. The screen is decent, but not as nice as some of the "retina" displays.
The Macbook is nice, but I don't know how limiting with only the 1 USB C port and nothing else.
the Pro is supposed to be completely changed this year and that is still not out yet.
The pricepoints get pretty high when you're up to a Pro
If it were me, I'd probably look at the 13" Air now or wait for a new pro. if she's not a techie, I'd bet she'd be happy with the Air.
