Saf-T Swim.. any experiences with them?
We hated Saf-T-Swim, the Westbury location. We now use Long Island Swim School in Syosset and we love them!

If you didn't use Saf-T Swim, where did you go?
I think the only other places are YMCA's and local/resident pool clubs. Or a private instructor.
I feel like Saf-T-Swim is my only option. They are expensive and frustrating and are a big source of stress in my life. But my daughter is learning from it. I can't say she is enjoying it but she has def. learned to swim underneath the water so i give them that!! I wish they helped her like it more but as long as she has the tools and safety down, that is all I care about for now.

Re: Saf-T Swim.. any experiences with them?
My dd swam at safety swim for 6 months at the bohemia location. It was such a waste of money IMO. First off I cannot tell you how many times they called me to cancel her lesson because someone had popped in the pool. My dd wasn't learning much besides how to get out of the pool. The pool is very small and often very crowded. Instructors hold the children in the water so they kids don't get any real swim experience. My dd started at the YMCA in Patch. in a group lesson was swimming completely on her on after the 2nd set of lessons. Their methods of teaching kids to swim is so much better. Kids wear bubbles (floatations) on their back. Kids actually have to swim instead of being held. They gradually take away the bubbles until they are swimming without any. I love the Y and its cheaper than Safety swim.

Re: Saf-T Swim.. any experiences with them?
We went to the westbury location when DS was about 10 months old. That is my only experience but I didn't care for what I saw. DS had a 16 year old instructor who knew nothing about how to deal with kids. We had a saturday AM class and they pool was so overcrowded, people in the pool would bump into eachother. Both my kids are wanting swim lessons again but I am holding off because I was traumatized
I have also heard of people who have good experiences & they children really learn to swim well from them so I guess you won't know unless you try it yourself.

My DD just started at the Bohemia location. I do notice that the pool is a bit crowded during her sessions. But her instructor does not socialize with the others in the pool, she is focused on my daughter and actually listens to her when she says she is afraid to go under or get her face wet. She is not as afraid of the pool as she was before she started and looks forward to her lessons.
