Tonsils, adenoids and new tubes in one shot!

We unfortunately had to rush into this surgery for my 3.5 year old. I have not told him yet as he wont understand. I haven't really researched it or anything as its so rushed! Please share your experience. We were told a minimum of 4 hours in recovery (north shore). Can both parents be in recovery? Any advice would be appreciated as I know nothing! Thanks

Tonsils, adenoids and new tubes in one shot!

Dd had hers done on Mon, tonsils and adenoids removed. For Dd it was a breeze. 2 hours after surgery she was eating pancakes and was dragging her iv pole down the hall because she was bored. Recovery has been pretty easy. She asks for her medicine when she hurts which for her is motrin. Today is day 9 and she is almost back to her normal self.

I stayed with Dd while they put her to sleep then they immediately bought dh and I up to recovery when age was still pretty much under. We were there when she woke up and we were there from 6am to 6pm. She was the first surgery and the last to leave since she is technically under 3 and under 3 has to stay overnight but she was doing so well and is on the cusp of 3 so they let us go.

She was given an antibiotic and told to take motrin every 4 to 6 hours. Nothing red or crunchy like chips for 14 days and no straws.

Many kids we were told come out of anesthesia crying so brace yourself for that.

A 3.5 year old and a 7 year old were in the room with us recovering at the same time. The two of them slept most of the day while my Dd bounced around. Your DC has to to be eating, drinking and using the bathroom before they are allowed to leave.
