Simple "wow" moment for family bday celebration?
My DDs are turning 2 and 4 in a week so we're having a simple party at home with pizza, salad, and some cake. There will be about 12 people total and the only other child will be my niece who is 6. There will be a subtle superhero theme (plates, cake, my girls will wear their capes and I have an extra for my niece if she wants it). I'd love to have a special surprise like a visit from a super hero or even a pony so the girls can have a couple pony rides but I don't want to break the bank. It's not a typical party's situation with a dozen kids, there are only three. I looked into one pony ride/traveling petting zoo but the lowest package was $425. I just can't spend that much for 3 kids to hang out in my yard for an hour. Any suggestions for something cute but affordable?

Not sure where you are located, but I keep seeing this guy in facebook that does spiderman at birthday parties for like $50. He is in the Bayport area. Also, my one friend just had her DH dress up and the kids went wild and didn't know who it was for a while. Maybe a neighbor would do it?

i like the bounce house idea, too!! should be pretty cheap to rent, and a fun thing for the kids 
or, yeah-- maybe you know somebody who would be willing to dress up like one of the super heros and come over for a half hour or so for some pictures and bring a couple little "gifts" or something for the kids...

I rented a small bounce house for my ds 2nd bday, it was for about 5 kids, it kept them entertained. It was around 200. Also used adrenaline entertainment for my dd christening, someone came for an hour to do face painting,balloon animals and games, I believe it was 150, if I really wanted I could have gotten a character for an extra $50

My friend Danielle owns Bipiddi Boppidi Bouncers they are on facebook and for my 2 years old party we has their smallest bounce house and it was perfect.
It wasn't too big but big enough for the older kids to be able to play also. Check out their page and tell her Stephanie M. sent ya!
