4 month sleep regression/teething
For the past week or so DS has been teething, plus I think might be hitting that 4 month sleep regression. At his doctors appointment last week his doctor felt his gums and told me they were swollen and he was definitely teething as he started to bite down on her finger. Prior to this he was sleeping from 8/830 pm to 6/7 am with 1 wake to feed at around 3 am, usually. He has also slept through the night a handful of times, so I know he is capable.
Lately he has been fussing every 2 hours or so at night. He is not waking out of hunger. I end up picking him up, cuddling him for a few minutes, sometimes giving him a pacifier, and he goes back to sleep. Does this sound like sleeping issues from teething or a sleep regression? How am I supposed to handle these wake ups? Not sure if I am making the situation better or worse by soothing him. I work full time and am out of the house for 13 hours a day and am beyond exhausted. I am *this* close to hiring a night nurse to help me through this period. I almost fell asleep on my ride home last night. Help please.

Re: 4 month sleep regression/teething
It could be any of those things, or separation anxiety, too.
As long as you know he isn't hungry, I'd just try to ride it out a bit. Leave him to fuss 10 or 15 minutes when he wakes up at night and see if he'll fall back to sleep.
It likely is the 4 month sleep regression so his sleep is changing and he has to adjust to it. I'd avoid picking him up unless he's really crying. If he takes a paci and just reinserting it works, I'd do that (if he's still fussing after 15 mins) and let him go back to sleep on his own. Soon he'll be able to put it in himself and that might solve your problems.
If you think he's teething in pain, try Tylenol.
Basically, there's no way to know so you have to kind of guess and figure it out. Hang in there!

Went through the same exact thing. My DS did not sleep well while teething and he got 8 teeth back to back over the course of 4-5 months. It was HORRIBLE.
I ended up putting him in the bed with me. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it, co-sleeping is not for everyone, but it's the only way I slept a wink.
Try Tylenol too. It helps a little bit.
