I cry at all those movies. Not death related but the end of Toy Story 3 when Andy goes to college gets me balling!
The end of this movie when Andy gives his toys to the little girl....my husband cried so hard I kid you not...it's one of the only times I've seen DH cry. Over an animated movie!
Oh I understand. Im getting choked up just thinking about it. When I first saw it I immediately called my sister and said why didnt you warn me about the end of this movie! lol

I was hyperventilating practically because I was crying so hard at that movie.

I agree there is a lot of death in Disney movies, but I also think it is an important teaching point for kids. I think it is a concept they should understand.

Wasn't Walt at least a grown man when his dad died? I didn't think he was very young. His dad was a stern man, which is why he and his brother left home when they could. At least, according to the film at dhs!
Most fairy tales and myths feature the loss of a parent; this is found across cultures, across time. And the Hero usually goes on a journey. And usually gets a scar. That's the extent of my memory on the unit in 12th grade English! Star Wars fits the mold as well.
yes he only lost his mom at a younger age. She died when he was a young adult and he blamed himself for it so apparently he started killing off all the moms in movies

What is up with Disney/Pixar and Death??
We just watched Inside Out a few days ago, and the look on my 3 yo dds face when Bing Bong faded away was heartbreaking. She has tears in her eyes and kept asking where he went the rest of the night. I wasn't expecting that from a kids movie : (
