It's just strange to me that this former LAPD officer held onto this knife for years. In any case it's a moot point since OJ can't be tried for the same crime again.

Well, OJ can't be prosecuted because of double jeopardy laws but this former police officer sure as heck can be prosecuted for obstruction of justice and if they really want for acting as a co conspirator to the murder after the fact for hiding the murder weapon.

Probably not. It is likely that the statute of limitations passed so no criminal charges will be brought.

the obstruction of justice would be on going until the moment they found the weapon. If it is in fact the weapon, I could see him being charged with obstruction.

He's in jail now right? He was convicted a few years back of robbery and assault or something. Was just watching some special on HLN about this
