Child's school on lockdown
Just got an email...I'm freaking out!

It is in regards to a bank robbery (reports it is a Capital One) and is located in Bay Shore. This was around 10am. At which point, following the robbery, 911 calls that were made led Suffolk police to three suspects... a vehicle chase ensued and the suspects crossed over into Nassau County. Suffolk Police working with Nassau Police were able to apprehend two out of the three suspects. At this point, they are around the Woodbury/Hicksville area near Jericho Tpke and 135 with K9 and aviation, along with tons of police from both Suffolk and Nassau looking for the third perp. So, as a precaution, the schools in the area have been locked down. He can't be far, I'm pretty confident they'll nab him shortly.
ETA -- at this point, the one last standing perp they are trying to get is on FOOT so again, he won't be able to get very far and I'm pretty sure they'll be able to snatch him up shortly. Hopefully!

Very scary but chances are the kids are business as usual and aren't even aware that they are in a lockdown. It just means no one can leave or enter the building.

There have been a ton on bank robberies in my area lately, my kids school has been on lockdown several times this year. Its just a safety precaution. They are not really in any danger and they are proceeding as usual with their day. Don't freak out.

As scary as it sounds, it's the safest thing for the kids.
It's great that they are so proactive and keep everything locked in situations like this.
Glad the suspects were caught!

We were in lockdown several weeks ago due to prisoner who escaped from hospital and it wasn't business as usual. Students were huddled in corners of classroom waiting further instructions. Scary stuff. My daughter was pretty traumatized.
