I actually don't have any debt as we were one of the people chosen by mark zukerberg to get 10% of Facebook. So if you'll excuse me, I need to hop on my jet to go pick up my millions.

I just want to say I had no idea who suze orman was until they spoofed her in Sesame Street when Oscar is buying too much on scramazon lol
One of the first times I saw her show was when she told someone to make copies of DVDs and sell the originals..... which is a Federal offense, so I never watched anything of hers again.
Really? Lol
I dont like her as I think she is not in touch with reality of life. She has never been married and has no kids. Her ideas don't work for many families as much as she claims they do. Maybe in podunkville, USA but not NY
I think she has a wife and they do have a child, from what I know.

I just spent over $150 at kohls on makeup for myself and won't be paying off the bill in full probably 2 payments of $75 because I had pink eye twice and had to throw all my makeup away and I'm pissed about it

I see she did marry her girlfriend. The child must be her wife's.

I dont buy anything I can't pay off when the bill comes. Yes there will be credit card bills as they close and come in,.but I will just be paying them in full like I do every month.
Same here.

Re: Christmas Bills
We paid for everything on debit(so just like cash.) I did charge more on my CC than I like to-I keep those under 40% utilization, but I will be paying that down Jan 5th. I do not live in NY:)

Re: Christmas Bills
And, FYI, carrying a small balance on CC's is better for your credit score than paying in full every month. Weird, but true.

Ita. For them, it means that u're responsible enough to carry a debt and pay for it steadily (month to month) instead of paying it in one shot.

I find this hard to believe because I just had my credit run for a car lease and it's 850. And I have never once carried a balance that I didn't pay off every month. So I can't imagine what my credit score would be if this is true and I actually carried a balance. 900? 950?

Mine is in the high 700's and carry a balance every month. I also have low rates on everything so don't worry too much that my score is not, nor was ever in the 800's.

Can't speak for others. I was just told this by a friend that works in the field.
Plus I'm sure the 850 score that u said u have, is not only based on how u pay ur c cards, but there's more to it, bigger debts like a mortgage, etc

From Bank of America: https://www.bankofamerica.com/credit-cards/education/5-facts-about-credit-cards.go
Fiction: You must carry a balance on your credit cards to build a credit history.
Fact: You do need to use your credit cards to build a credit history, but that doesn't mean you must carry an unpaid balance. In fact, your best strategy is to use your credit cards and pay off the bill in full each month so you keep your overall debt-to-credit limit low.
3rd party site: http://www.magnifymoney.com/blog/building-credit/should-you-carry-a-balance-on-a-credit-card
A credit card myth exists in our society simply to befuddle new credit card users. Parents tell children. Friends tell each other. Managers lecture employees. “You should carry a balance on a credit card,” they announce in authoritative voices. “It’s good for your credit,” they proclaim. It’s so common, we’re frequently asked, “should you carry a balance on a credit card?”
NO! They’re wrong. I don’t care if they’re your mother, father, banker, financial advisor, manager or best friend. There is absolutely no need for you to carry a balance on a credit card.
I wish we could go back in time and see who birthed this nasty myth or perhaps uncover some bank-related conspiracy to keep us all in debt. Truthfully, it probably began out of confusion about receiving a statement verse carrying a balance.

Oh Jesus. This is my fault.
I'm really sorry because I was just getting slap happy here at work on NYE with not much else to do and it was not at all directed at you -- I was just kidding around and I honest to goodness, no snark, apologize if you took it that way because I absolutely did not mean it that way at all.
I also have this ongoing tease with Nell about the term "shit ton" which has nothing to do with nothing.

And, FYI, carrying a small balance on CC's is better for your credit score than paying in full every month. Weird, but true. this is a myth. You should not carry a balance on your card. Whomever told you this did not know what they were talking about. What can help is an installment t loan like a mortgage. That is why it was called "good debt," vs credit card debt, which is "bad debt." I know I have replied to this issue before and it saddens me that this myth is so often repeated.

I had actually never heard that advice before I read it on this board although I don't really pay much attention to random financial advice anyway.
It has to be a myth. Why would a credit agency rate someone higher specifically because they couldn't pay their balance off in full? That runs counter to common sense.
While there are certainly phenomena in this world that defy common sense - like Kim Kardashian's fame - I find that in general, if something sounds like BS, it probably is.
