Out of State Babysitters
We're going to a wedding out of state and anyone that could be a potential babysitter will be at this wedding.
For those that have been in this situation before - what do you do? DS will be coming with us - so my options are (1) find a strange to watch them, (2) keep him with us in the reception and hope he falls asleep with all the loud music..not likely.

2. My DS was 17 months. He partied hard and finally passed out at 10:30. His normal bedtime is 7:30.

Do you have a regular babysitter that you can ask to go with you to stay in the hotel with your child?

Out of State Babysitters
We brought my DS to my brother in laws wedding in September. He was 15 months then. He ended up passing out in his stroller in the reception room at 10:30 and stayed asleep the whole time! My back up was to just leave. We ended up having a great time.

I would bring him, you might be surprised. I might consider a babysitter if someone comes highly recommended from someone I fully trust who lives in the area.

Ours was literally the same exact situation. We all had an awesome time! The only downside was that while DS slept through the party, he woke up when we got back to the hotel and it was definitely not a very enjoyable night post party - but oh well! Otherwise, we had an awesome time! :) My DS was literally the life of the party.

Is he invited to the wedding? And how old is he?
If he's invited, I'd bring him. DS went to my sister's wedding on a late Saturday night when he was almost 10 months old. I loved having him there, dancing with him, etc, and we got some great pics (him in his PJs on the dance floor). We did, however, bring a baby sitter with us and he slept in a PnP in the bridal suite. If it wasn't my sister, I would've just taken the stroller with us and left a little early. He's almost 3 now and wouldn't have a problem staying up for the entire wedding at this age.

Re: Out of State Babysitters
We've done both: brought my mom & had her babysit (we paid for her hotel & traveled together by car).
After 1.5, we just included them if they were invited. They have always been perfect. They even slept on chairs when tired enough.

Re: Out of State Babysitters
I've used friends babysitters in that area. Is that an option?

I would only use a babysitter that I did not know, if there was a recommendation from a family member or friend that lives locally.

Re: Out of State Babysitters
We had a wedding in FL, kids were not invited. We found a company online that referred a sitter. I felt comfortable b/c it was company, not just an individual I found on care.com. The woman called ahead of time for a phone introduction. When we met in person she was delightful and went above and beyond our regular sitter. I kind of wanted to bring her home.
