"Being a mom without a mom"

As I'm laying down on my bed with my 2 little ones, I stumbled on this beautiful article that touched every single string of my heart and brought tears to my eyes. And to think that yesterday would have been my mom's birthday Chat Icon

Im sorry you lost your mom. I lost mine too. It will be 20 years this coming January. I was only 20 when she passed and my mom died 3 weeks shy of her 47th bday. I feel pain almost everyday of my life since weve lost her. I talk to her everyday. Its really is a void that will never heal. To all that lost your moms know shes your guardian angel always.

Great, now I'm crying at my desk. I felt every single one of these things in the article. My mother is gone 3.5 yrs now, it doesn't get easier, in fact it gets harder for me. It's the worst thing that's ever happened and no one else can truly understand unless they've lost a parent and that bond. Especially a girl or woman losing her mother. It's an unexplainable loss. yup - the worst thing that has ever happened to me too.

The pain never goes away. I cry just thinking about her and people have learned to not really talk about her in front of me because I cry instantly. I have never told them to not talk about her but I think they see my reaction and just choose not to.

I hate that my kids have to grow up without her and that I have to raise them without her.

I am so sorry to all of you for your loss. My mother is alive but she has Alzheimer's and is in a nursing home. We no longer have a mother/daughter relationship as she needs constant care and doesn't really know who I am anymore. I am expecting my second child and it is so hard doing this without my mom. I can't go to her for advice or to vent or to cry on her shoulder. She's still here but I still feel like I've already lost her because in a way I have. My heart goes out to all of you. Know your moms are with you in spirit.

I'm sitting here at my desk crying (thankfully I am alone in my office today).

My mom died 3 weeks after I got married. She was terminally ill and we decided to have a civil ceremony at our house so she could be there. It was a great day for her but so hard on the rest of us. I hated not having her at my wedding reception 5 months later. I hate it even more that she is not here to see her grandkids. She was a fantastic mother and would have been an even greater grandmother.

My mom had alzheimers for many years before she eventually passed a year ago. I understand how you feel about feeling like you lost her even though she is still here. It's so hard. Chat Icon

Next March will be 2 years since I lost my mom. The pain is still there especially this time of year, since we slways did the holidays with her. While she got to know my daughter for a bit, it breaks my heart to know she'll never meet my son.

My mom is gone 6 years and it just sucked being pregnant and having my DD without her. She would have spoiled this little girl rotten!!! Chat Icon

I am in a similar boat. My mom had a stroke almost 10 years ago and is paralyzed on her right side

I know she is "here" but I miss my mom so much that I could talk to. For her to be there when my kids were born or even at my shower or their first b day etc

For her to even really hold them

So many hugs for all you ladies

Re: "Being a mom without a mom"

It's true, nobody really understands unless they've lost their mom too. None of my friends have lost their moms so whenever I see them getting married or having children and their moms are there with them, living all those beautiful moments, I can't help but feeling a bit jealous because I never lived those moments and I never will, and it feels so unbelievably painful, like a wound that keeps opening. I lost my mom 11 yrs ago and it seems that it was just yesterday Chat Icon
