Should I bring her back to the doctor?
I had dd at the doctor on Wednesday for a fever and very slight cough. Flu test was negative, and WBC count was normal so it was deemed to be a virus. We are now on day 6 of a fever. The cough is still very very slight and sporadic. Should I bring her back to the doctors today, or can viruses just take awhile to leave the body? I will call when office is open but wanted to check in with you guys too. Dd is turning 3.

Should I bring her back to the doctor?
I personally would. It may have turned into an ear infection or something else.

Re: Should I bring her back to the doctor?
If I had already been told it viral and DC doesn't have any new symptoms, then no I would go back to the Dr. Fever viruses often take a long time to run their course.

Re: Should I bring her back to the doctor?
Bring her back. I keep seeing people here say oh fever virus is nothing. The Wednesday before Halloween my DD (6) came home cold. Turned out she had a fever. Felt 100% fine. No Motrin wanted. But had a temp that yoyo'd between 102 and 104. On Halloween she started a very slight dry tiny cough. Nothing you would run to the ped for (no runny nose).
Monday she still had the fever and slight cough. Took her to the ped. We didn't go sooner because the nurse at school said fever virus was in her class and DD said she felt 100% fine. She was eating and drinking ok.
Get to the ped and the dr asked her how she was feeling. She said fine....so he was looking at me. I said she never coughs (he said eh that isn't a bad cough). Throat, ears, nose all clear. Then he listened to her chest. Turns out she had pneumonia. Yup. So if you aren't sure go back.

Should I bring her back to the doctor?
I would. I have been told it's viral for a fever and cough and a few days later went back and there was an ear infection. I would definitely go back.

Go back so you can relax. Its was too stressful to worry that you are missing something!

Should I bring her back to the doctor?
My 3yo had a fever and cough a few weeks back. We went to the doctor on day 4 and they aid give it another 48 hours and if it wasn't getting better to come back for a chest xray. That evening she went up to 103 out of nowhere but the next morning she was fine. I'd go back tomorrow if she's not better

Re: Should I bring her back to the doctor?
I would. 6 days is a long time. My dd went to the dr 3x in 2 weeks with a fever and viral until the 3rd time which she had an ear infection. Sometimes those viral things turn into ear infections.

Bring her back. It might have developed into bronchitis or and ear infection.

Should I bring her back to the doctor?
Depends on what the temp was. If its consistently low I wouldn't. If it's high then yes.

Get her swabbed for RSV. My kids had the same symptoms in January and it lasts like 3 weeks. My baby had it too!

Re: Should I bring her back to the doctor?
Thanks everyone. Dd refused to take Tylenol this morning and she stayed fever-free the whole day so I did not call the doctor. At 6:00 pm she developed a fever again and now the cough is much much worse. Looks like I'm missing another day of work to get her checked out again...poor kid :(

This is what I was thinking. Ds got it at 9 weeks after his first week at daycare. Peaked by day 6/7, wasn't gone until 2-3 weeks. His fever never went higher than 101 though, so we were able to tough it out.
