Vacation with 8 month old in Jan (flying/flu related)
Would you take your 8 month old on vacation in January (in the middle of flu season?) I know my MIL is going to put in her 2 cents when she finds out so just want to see if I'm crazy before I book it?

I did at 6 months (last December) and 9 months (last March) and had a great time both trips. Would definitely do it again!

I don't live my life by if one of us could get sick. You can get the flu sittin on your couch. Go fly!

I think at that point my 8 month old had a higher chance of getting sick from his daycare than from traveling. Don't hold yourself back - it's a great time to go away with a baby that age!

Go. The only way to avoid sickness is to live in a bubble. I got the flu last year, even after the shot, most likely at work (I was speaking with people after I got it and found out that they too had it and still came into the office).
We took DS 1 on a flight at 10 weeks in February. No flu shot - nobody got sick.

Can't babies get a flu shot after 6 months?

Yes.
I also think colds are more common from flying, not the flu.
