Unemployment/Disability Benefits
Asking for a relative.
If an individual was on full disability from March-July of this year, and then lost their job in October, how would unemployment work? Would they still be eligible? How would the calculation work?
Also, does unemployment apply to part time employees?
I checked the NY state website, and it appears that this individual falls within the parameters of the income eligibility, but I'm confused about the disability. They haven't yet lost their job, but there is a good chance they may in the near future, not to any fault of their own.

You have to be able to work in order to get unemployment.
So if they are fully disabled still you can't get both.
As for UE as a part time employee it is still the same. They calc based off the past earnings.

Sorry I wasn't clear. The disability was bc of a surgery, so the person has since returned to work

If they lose their job then it would be unemployment. If they are back to work then they are no longer disabled. The UE is calculated on past wages
