From what I understand if your on unemployment and get disabled at least 4 weeks after you've been laid off - you are eligible for NYS workers comp disability.
Was wondering if anyone has filed for this with success and wondering how it works with the pregnancy - as far as how early you can get the disability before the birth etc.

You can file for disability as soon as you are disabled. Your Dr would need to provide proof. The max you get through the state is $170/week.
ETA - you cannot collect both so it would be better to stay on unemployment.

yes but if you collect the disablility then you can continue to collect the remainder of your unemployment after the disability ends so it would be more money total. And its also illegal to collect unemployment if you cannot work due to your pregnancy/birth

Can an employee collect disability benefits if on maternity leave? A. Yes. If she is on a leave of absence without pay (i.e. maternity leave), and becomes disabled within four weeks of the last day she actually worked, she is entitled to benefits from the employer/carrier (if otherwise eligible). If the disability begins more than four weeks from the last day actually worked and she is claiming/receiving Unemployment Benefits, she is entitled to disability benefits from the Special Fund for Disability Benefits (if otherwise eligible).
