Team green and c section?

Just wondering if anyone went team and had a c section?

A friend of mine is considering it and she will be having a c section. Personally, I had a really bad CS experience and barely realized I gave birth so I don't think I couldve appreciated the surprise....

Wondering if anyone had a positive experience they could share?

I did. My csection was not planned. The cord was wrapped around his neck so he would not descend and his heart rate was decelerating. (Two unrelated issues) He was my first and I was scared.

Despite all that when my husband yelled-It's a boy!! With a huge smile. All was right with the world. They were stitching me up and he went to the nursery and I kept thinking-wow- I have a son! I'm a Mom! It was amazing. I also had nothing to compare it to so I was happy.

Long story everyone was telling me I was having a girl except for a handful of people. I was surprised because I was convinced I was having a girl.

I had a great experience and would not have do anything differently. I had a very easy recovery too.

I did for both pregnancies. My first was not planned. It was a crash C bc he was losing oxygen. I was put under and when I woke up in recovery shaking first thing I heard was "It's a boy and I heard his name is Mason." It was the one thing that made me happy. Recovery from the crash was tough, but wouldn't change a thing.
My second DS was a scheduled c and we were team green as well. That was a MUCH better recovery. Had no issues and got to enjoy DS the entire time. Wouldn't change a thing. How he was born had nothing to do with the awesome surprise in the end.

I don't really see what difference it makes tbh. Anyone can end up with a cs.

I was team green and had a very unexpected ecs at 35 weeks. It was not the reveal I was hoping for, I wanted an all natural birth. Thankfully I was totally with it and do remember hearing it was a girl. I did feel letdown just bc I wasn't ready and kind of missed out on the last month of anticipation and she was rushed out to the nicu, I wasn't there when DH called our families and told them it was a girl. Even still, I don't regret it at all. Even if you're put under or totally out of it, you're going to figure it out eventually. It's also about going through your whole pregnancy without knowing which is fun.

I was team green and had an emergency c. I was awake for my c, but not completely "there" due to the meds they were giving me. However, the one thing I remember clear as day, is hearing DD cry out and the nurse/doc? saying "Do you hear that? That's your baby girl!," then me saying "Is she ok????" and start tearing up.

Then DH saying "you got your baby girl" (he wanted a boy and I wanted a girl). And of course my response to DH - "Are you ok???"

So yea, I don't feel my csection took anything away from the surprise of finding out. While I certainly didn't have the completely clear mind that I probably would've had if I had a vaginal, I still remember the most important parts, and those memories will never fade.

I agree with others - I don't think it will take away from it.
I had to be knocked out with my first and that did kind of suck because I wasn't awake to hear that announcement and when I woke up, while it was exciting, I was (later -once I actually knew what was going on again ) disappointed about not hearing the it with DH, but it was still exciting.

I had DS#2 CS also but was awake (and accidentally not team ) but if it had been a surprise, it think it would have been amazing!

I unexpectedly wound up having a VBAC but I decided to remain even though I was 90% sure I was having a repeat csection. I was pretty out of it for my csection with my first (it happened after a 30 hours labor and 3 hours of pushing) but I will never forget the moment they introduced me to my boy for the first time.

My first pregnancy we were and I ended up with a c-section after many many many hours of labor. It was not what I had dreamed of and hoped for, but I had a great experience, was completely "there" mentally (no adverse reaction to the c-section meds at all), with DH holding my hand as DD was born. It was emotional and we were crying and hugging each other. It sucked that I couldn't hold her immediately but within 30 minutes she was nursing and we were bonding. Considering a c-section was not my first choice, I couldn't have had a better experience.

i was team green and had an emergency c section. scariest moments of my life. but hearing them announce 'it's a girl' and hearing her cry was the most exciting moment of my life!

I was team green and woulnd up having a c/s. It was definitely unplanned- I walked into the hospital with my yoga ball and hypnobirthing mix on my iphone LOL.

It definitely wasn't the moment I was hoping for but it was still awesome to have all that anticipation.

When they pulled the baby out the dr goes "Look at this big bruiser!" I automatically thought it was a boy. They never said anything else so I go "What is it???" They respond with "Oh you don't know???" Then I yelled- "NO!! IS IT A BOY OR A GIRL??" It was kind of a nonchalant response of "Oh it's a girl", but it was still awesome. She was taken away right away and we didn't see her for a good 5-10 mins because she had to be evaluated by PICU (there was meconium in the fluid and my water was broken for 38 hours at that point).

I'm still glad I was team green and would 100% do it again for the next kid.

I was team green too. My baby was breech and I had a scheduled C-section, but he had other plans and I went into labor at home, still being breech when I got to the hospital I was rushed in for an emergency C-section. It was still a wonderful surprise to hear "It's a Boy!" Hubby and the nurses took a ton of pics.
If we are blessed with any more LO's we will definitely be team green again!

I was team green and had to have an emergency c-section after 24 hours of labor. I don't think my experience finding out would have been that different if I'd delivered vaginally. They started the surgery, and pretty quickly the doctor told me that he could see its face and that it had chubby cheeks, but that he didn't see the gender yet. That was probably the most exciting moment - the baby was RIGHT THERE and I knew I was going to find out any second. I'm not a crier, but when he said, "It's a boy" I started sobbing uncontrollably for a full minute or two.

If your friend is considering being team green, I don't think a c-section should change her mind about it.

I had a really crappy C-section experience, I was basically down and out for 12 hours after and didn't see my DD, BUT it was still AWESOME finding out in surgery that we had a !!! BEST surprise ever!!!! I wouldn't have changed a thing!!

With my 2nd we found out beforehand but nothing to do with needing a 2nd C-section. For some reason, I just couldn't hold out with #2!

Yes! 2 emergency c sections and both team green. With my first, she was 7 weeks early and we were so so scared. Not knowing the sex of the baby kept is going. All went smoothly and she just turned 8.

Dd #2 was born a few weeks early. It was a lot less stressful and it was a nice surprise to see another girl! I could have 100 kids and they would all be surprises

I did. I ended up with an emergency c-section bit was fully aware of sverythjng at all times. There was NOTHING LIKE hearing the doctor say, here's your daughter as she lifted her up above the curtain.

For dc2 it will be a planned c-section and we are team green again.

I had an emergency c but knew ahead of time I was having a . My whole delivery process was a nightmare. I was on a medication that almost killed me. I have no memory of anything that happened DDs first 2 days. If I had gone in I wouldnt have remembered if it was a boy or girl for 2-3 days.

I had 2 c-sections, 1 after a failed induction and the other after an attempted VBAC. Neither one was an emergency. Both times, DH told me the sex. They were great experiences and very memorable moments.

I don't really see what having a c-sec has to do with being team green. We found out both times and had c-sections. I was incredibly sick during and after my 2nd csec. I was surround by a team of doctors who were taking care of me and there was a lot of choas in the room. I still only remember watching my dd across the room while they cleaned her up. If we are blessed enough to have a third I will likely have to be put to sleep to have my csec. We have already agreed to be team green if we have a third. I'll wake up and find out.

Thanks everyone, these stories are great to hear. I guess I can understand her reluctance. I had a really, really bad birth experience. To sum it up, I was very heavily medicated and not fully conscious so I wouldn't have had the "it's a ....." moment. I didn't even realize/ comprehend the baby was born. If I need another CS I likely won't go team green because of it. I think of rather start bonding with a he or she during pregnancy. She asked my opinion and I was reluctant to share but told her I'd ask around BC my experience certainly is not typical. Which is so refreshing to hear!!! It makes me think about reconsidering if there is a number 2 :)

I was not team green the first time and had a terrible unexpected section. Was overly medicated for the first 24 hours following and have limited memory of it.


I was team green for my 2nd section which was fine. I knew it was a boys though so was kind of like, "um yeah I know!" When they announced it! I don't think the OR environment took away from it at all, unless of course you are having complications.
