Daycare Gift Advice

My 17 month old DD fractured her ankle and will be in a cast for a month. I am so lucky and thankful that her daycare has been so accomidating and helpful during this really difficult time. It is alot more work for her teachers bc she is not allowed to walk at all and they have been so amazing. When she went to school the made her feel extra special, signing her cast with sweet messages etc. I would be totally lost w/o there help for the next month. I am already thinking ahead b/c I want to get her 2 teachers a gifts. I know I can do flowers, breakfast, giftcards etc but I really want to give them cash b/c then they can treat themselves to something. Is it tacky to give cash but with a thoughtful note?

Re: Daycare Gift Advice

What about a GC to a restaurant or spa place along with a nice plant or flowers?

Amazon GC is always useful. If you really want to give "cash" then I'd opt for a Visa or Amex GC.

As a teacher, I would LOVE cash!! lol. You could throw it on one of those neutral Visa giftcards too, ya know? That way they can use it for whatever, but it's a little different than just feeling like you've got gas money in your wallet. For me, when it's in a card form it feels more like a 'gift' and something to use on just myself for something fun. I do like that idea much better than giftcards to somewhere specific. Last Christmas the moms I babysit for pitched in and got me a GC for a massage. I was so grateful for the thought, but I hate massages. Almost a full year later it still hasn't been used and is about to expire. I would have appreciated just a neutral gift card (or cash) much much more Chat Icon

Give the cash. I'm sure it will be appreciated.

I don't know why people are dismissive of cash and suggest gcs. I always give cash for kid bdays and prefer it for mine as well. How many more toys and outfits are needed?! Sorry for the tangent and rant. Chat Icon

Re: Daycare Gift Advice

You can get AMEX or Visa gift cards. I have given them out to teachers before.

Re: Daycare Gift Advice

I always give cash as a gift.... Especially considered how underpaid daycare teachers are. You can give it along with a small bouquet, or I like to order mrs prindables apples from Qvc (also on zulily yesterday) and give each teacher and any assistant or helpful office staff one of those as well. Speedy recovery!

As an elementary school teacher i can say i love the visa type gift cards too. Then i can buy anything i want. But that's just me. I can't tell you how many weird gifts i have received.
