Runny nose

What can I give my poor DD she has a runny nose and it's making her upper lip and face raw. She doesn't have anything else but a runny nose. She blows it and uses boomy wipes but it's still so raw. What can I give her to dry it up? She's 4 1/2.

I don't think there's really anything you can give. When that happens to my kids, I just put aquaphor on it before bed each night. That usually takes care of it pretty well. Hope she feels better!

One of the dr at urgent care told me to give my son some Benadryl to dry it up. I would call for the correct dosage though. They told me less than what was printed on the package.

Benadryl will dry it out. Just adjust dosage based on weight. Theres only childrens benadryl for older kids but you just cut it in half.

Re: Runny nose

Thanks everyone. I give her the Benadryl at night but the problem is during the day. She's constantly wiping with her sleeve which I making it raw! I wasn't sure if there was anything that wouldn't make her drowsy during the day. The poor thing looks like she has a disease. And now she's complaining that it hurts. I'm trying the aquafor and even coconut oil but she's constantly wiping it off. Ugh. Thanks again!

What about saline spray and a suctioning of her nose? Like the electric one?
