Moms with kids who were in summer camp
Moms with kids in summer camp: I realize this is early but I feel like I have to get some ideas together since I'm a FTWM. Looking for camp recommendations anywhere from Islip to mid-Nassau. Also can you give me an idea of how much it costs? I'm almost afraid to hear the fee LOL I've been looking online but the only program I can get a price on was at Hofstra and it was crazy expensive.

my son went to South Shore in Bellmore, 5 days a week, 9-5pm, includes buses, food and trips. i paid $4200. next summer he'll probably go to MapleWood in Wantagh only because his best friend goes there. its about the same price.

When I researching, Camps R Us was the cheapest and had the best hours for working parents.

I used the camp at Tutor Time- they have an adventure camp for ages 5-12 where they take them on field trips.
It was like $125 registration fee then for 3 days a week it was $353/week last year.
We only do 3 days- so I don't recall what it was for 5 days.
The nice thing- the center is open 630 am to 630 pm so it's great for a working mom's schedule

We will most likely be doing Buckley again (located in Roslyn). Cost for early bird is about $6500. The program is great and my son had a blast. I would check it out if you are located nearby!

My DD goes to Buckley as well and loves it. For full day 8 weeks early bird tuition is more than that though i think.

I am going to try Buckley next summer, DS will be 5. We did another camp this summer and it was not a good fit for him at all. I have never heard one negative thing about Buckley.

I'm in Suffolk County. I paid @ $3500 for 8 weeks, 4 days per week from 7-4. It's an extra $10 per day (paid at pick up) if the child stays from 4-6pm.

If you are in the town of Islip, check the rec centers as we used them and they were the cheapest around. A few years ago we paid $1,000 for 8 weeks.
